Thinking about moving to Staunton, Waynesboro, Augusta County, Harrisonburg, or Charlottesville?
This is one of those things that looks simple on the surface… until you actually start digging into it.
Every area here feels a little different, and what works for one person may not feel right for someone else.
So before making a move, here are a few things worth thinking about:
• Cost of living → More affordable than larger cities, but it can vary quite a bit depending on the area and type of home
• Housing options → From historic homes in Staunton to newer builds in Augusta County, you’ll see a wide range
• Lifestyle → Slower pace, strong sense of community, and easy access to outdoor spaces
• Work & commute → Some areas are more local, while others may require commuting to nearby cities
• Day-to-day feel → Each town has its own personality, and Charlottesville feels very different from Waynesboro or Harrisonburg
• What surprises people → How much the experience can change just by being 15–20 minutes in a different direction
The biggest thing I tell people?
Take the time to understand the area, not just the home.
👉 The right fit isn’t just about the house, it’s about how your everyday life will feel once you’re there.
If you’re thinking about making a move and want help figuring out which area fits you best, I’m always happy to talk it through.
