Granite Vs. Quartz: Is One Really Better Than the Other? Here is some info that may help you make your decision. Which one do you prefer? Comment below!

Granite:
- It is a natural stone and mined from quarries.
- No two slabs are alike!
- It should be sealed annually.

Quartz:
- It is manufactured using roughly 93% ground natural quartz and 7% polymer resins.
- It is non-porous and can repel coffee, oil, food coloring etc making it virtually maintenance free.

Swipe Left to see the before 📷 In order to create an open concept layout, we knocked down the wall between the kitchen and dining area completely. This created a functional layout for entertaining and allowed for sight lines from one end of the house to the other. We also squared off the opening between the dining and family room for harder lines and a more modern feel. The original space lacked character and warmth so we decided to install whitewashed shiplap ceilings and plenty of recessed lighting. To play off the farmhouse vibe we put in an apron front farm sink and found industrial light fixtures for over the dining table and stairway. We went with a hand scraped floor for added character.

Swipe Left to see the “Before” 📷 The original porch was beyond repairable and needed to be tore down. We kept it’s original footprint while adding a metal roof and more detailed trim work. The interior of the house has shiplap ceilings so we decided to use the same material for the porch sidewalls for cohesiveness. Since we built a massive open-air deck along the backside of the house, we felt it beneficial to add a roof to this porch. It is located just off the kitchen and serves as the perfect breakfast spot or evening night cap. The view of the foliage is just beautiful.
