Travel 1,000 years back in time at Chaco Culture National Historical Park in New Mexico. Home to the remains of massive stone buildings containing multiple stories and hundreds of rooms, this high desert valley was once the center of Puebloan culture. These structures were often oriented to solar, lunar and cardinal directions with sophisticated astronomical markers, water control devices and ceremonial earthen mounds surrounding them. Here’s a dream spot at Grand Teton National Park: Delta Lake in Wyoming. This hidden gem starts on a social trail out of Lupine Meadows, which leads to a turquoise lake right at the base of the Grand Teton. Of this trail, Josh Packer says, "Hiking up to the Delta Lake was the most strenuous yet rewarding hikes of my life.
