DIY or just a lazy plumber?.. Either way, that'll never work..

A water softener's discharge line's primary purpose is to safely carry away mineral-rich, salty wastewater (brine and hardness minerals) generated during the system's regeneration cycle. This drain line is improperly terminated to a plumbing vent in the attic. Zip ties and bailing wire holding this ship together.
