🌟Power Access Scholarship winner Marnel Jean is performing live on Lincoln Road as part of the Jazz Hits The Road all-star line-up on Sunday, January 8, 2023.

🎶Marnel was awarded the Power Access Scholarship for 'Excellence in Music" last May. He is currently a senior studying euphonium performance at the New World School of the Arts in Miami, FL. He is active in the community as a performer and teacher’s assistant with the Evolutionary Arts Life program founded to provide affordable performing arts instruction to underserved communities.

🎼Marnel is a dually impaired student with vision impairment, including complete blindness in his left eye due to cataracts and retinal scarring. In addition to his visual impairment, Marnel suffers from bilateral hearing loss. To alleviate the detrimental effects of his disability on his education, Marnel makes use of assistive technology such as magnifying glasses, magnification software, note-takers, and digital sheet music for performances, as well as other learning accommodations provided by the Access Department.

🎶Mike LeDonne is a powerful piano and Hammond B3 organ player. He made his reputation in the 1990s as an ace accompanist touring and recording with Jazz legends such as Milt Jackson, Sonny Rollins, Bobby Hutcherson, and Benny Golson.⁣
