Right in the heart of downtown, the Mill Valley Depot Café & Bookstore is one of those places that captures what I love about living here. Grab a coffee, browse the books, meet a friend, or simply sit outside and watch the town go by.

The smartest way to protect your home’s value? It may be simpler than you think. 🏡✨

It’s not always the big remodel or expensive upgrade. Often, it’s the little things you do consistently.

Changing air filters. Checking for leaks. Cleaning gutters. Maintaining decks and landscaping. Taking care of small repairs before they become big ones. 🌿🔧

Here in Marin, where homes can be surrounded by redwoods, exposed to coastal moisture, or built into our hillsides, regular maintenance can make an especially big difference.

A home across from the beach in Japan for around $40,000 USD?! 🇯🇵🌊🏡

One of the biggest surprises from our trip was discovering just how affordable real estate can still be in parts of Japan.

There are vacant homes, known as akiya, selling for remarkably low prices and in some cases, homes are even offered essentially for free.

Then we visited Shimoda… beautiful beaches, a laid-back coastal lifestyle, and some seriously good surf. 🏄‍♀️☀️ Suddenly the idea of owning a little second home in Japan didn’t seem quite so far-fetched.

Of course, the purchase price is only part of the equation. Renovations, maintenance, taxes, location, and local buying requirements all need to be considered.

But $40K across from the beach? It definitely got my attention. 👀
