Qualified applicant will have 18 months continuous recovery, work a 12 step program and be able to manage and mentor residents. Approximately 5 - 10 hrs a week. To My Fellow Sober Home Owners: It’s Time to Stand Together

Those of us who fought our way through the exhausting FSRB licensing process know firsthand what it takes to stay in this field. We endured endless delays, mixed messages, and rules created by people who have never walked a day in our shoes. And yet—we’re still here.

Why? Because what we do matters.

We provide safe, sober housing that keeps people off the streets, gives them stability, and makes treatment and aftercare possible. Without us, many of our communities would see even more people struggling in plain sight at every corner and every stoplight.

And yet, we are too often dismissed, disrespected, and treated as if we’re the problem. The reality? We are part of the solution. We are essential to the recovery process.

Yes—there were “bad actors.” But the system itself has already weeded many of them out. Those of us who remain are here because we care deeply about our residents and our work, and yes, because we deserve to make a living while doing it.

So here’s the question: how long are we going to let the broader professional community minimize us? How long are we going to accept policies that ignore the truth of what sober housing brings to recovery?

It’s time to organize. To speak with one voice. To build policies that make sense for our clients and for us. And maybe, just maybe, it’s time to form a union—a union by us, for us—to ensure we are no longer overlooked or written off.

We are not going anywhere.
We are here.
And it’s time our voices are heard.
