Can you help us locate the missing plaques?
On Thursday, the Downtown Moses Lake Association (DMLA) placed this year’s Adopt-a-Pot plaques in flowerpots throughout the downtown corridor. These plaques—honoring local businesses, community members, and loved ones—were installed just in time for Spring Fest weekend.
Unfortunately, Sunday afternoon, 15 of the plaques and 3-foot rods were stolen from the pots.
This program is a true labor of love. DMLA partners with the incredible Moses Lake FFA students to plant the flowers and our team maintains them throughout the summer. Our Executive Director personally walked the downtown placing these plaques to recognize those who make this program possible—and now all but three of them are missing.
We’ve been working all morning to track down the person responsible—checking with businesses for video surveillance and following up on leads. While we do know who took the plaques, we don’t yet know where they ended up.
If you’re a downtown business or someone who’s frequently in the area, please keep an eye out for any missing Adopt-a-Pot plaques or the 3-foot cast iron rods. Check alleyways, dumpsters, loading zones, or anywhere nearby in case they were discarded.
Your help means the world as we try to recover these special pieces of our downtown. 💐
We’re not giving up on this program—it’s far too important to our downtown. More plaques are already on order, and we are in the process of figuring out what to do next to ensure they are safely placed moving forward.
If you'd like to support the Adopt-a-Pot program and help us keep Downtown Moses Lake beautiful, you can still make a donation to adopt a pot.
Thank you for your continued support and for helping us take care of the place we all call home. 💐
