Because of that she is actively involved with Rotary Club of Mount Joy, and Mount Joy Chamber of Commerce. Since 1999, she was involved with the organization of Winterfest & Co-Chaired until 2010. She still coordinates with FDMJ and community volunteers to decorate the live 40 foot Christmas tree for Winterfest. She currently serves on the Civil Service Commission of Mount Joy Borough, Volunteers
with Emergency Management Agency and is co-coordinator of warming/cooling centers in the borough. As a member of the Lancaster County Association of Realtors, Ferne has serve on various committees –including Government Affairs, Trustee, Ethics Committee, Budget/Finance Committee, and 2017 Treasurer Board of Directors. In 2011, she was named Realtor of the Year for LCAR. In 2015, Ferne was named Volunteer of the Year for LCAR.
