We are currently fighting 11 fires across the Forest, with several other smoke reports being investigated. The only fire reported near Garden Valley was 2 miles east of the airport has been controlled at 0.25 acre. Another just northeast of Pioneerville was controlled at 3 acres.

The two largest fires currently are the Sunset Fire, 7 miles east of Idaho City at an estimated 15 acres and the Boulder Fire, 11 miles southwest of Cascade estimated at 40 acres.

There are several other fires and smoke reports in the vicinity between Lowman and Deadwood Reservoir.

Today’s weather forecast is calling for gusty conditions which may reveal other lightning caused fires. We will provide an update early this evening.
