Just stopped by the Pickin’ Park and had to grab this. This is one of those things I love about Mountain View. You never really know when you’re going to stumble across a group of people sitting around, playing music and having a good time.

If you’re in town for Labor Day weekend, make sure you wander through the Pickin’ Park. You might just want to pull up a chair and stay awhile.

The fair is in town!

There’s just something about a night at the fair… the lights, the rides, the animals, the smell of fair food and kids running around having the time of their lives.

We made the rounds, visited ALL the animals (of course), and yes… apparently you can just walk around and pet a pig. 😂

If you haven’t been yet, go! It’s one of those simple little things that makes living in a small town pretty great.

Now the important question… what is the ONE fair food you have to get every single year?

THEN & NOW: Do you recognize this building?

This one is pretty neat! The first photo is Lackey Motor Company on the Mountain View Square, believed to have been taken in the late 1930s.

Lackey Motor Company was a Chevrolet dealership, and if you look closely at the old photo you can see the Chevrolet sign, gas pumps, old cars and the employees standing out front.

Today, you probably recognize this building as Mi Pueblito Mexican Restaurant!

I love looking at these old pictures and seeing how much has changed, but also how much is still recognizable. Look at that stonework!

Now I need some help from the longtime Mountain View folks... Who remembers Lackey Motor Company? And does anyone know what else was in this building between Lackey Motor Company and Mi Pueblito?

I would LOVE to hear your memories and see any old pictures you might have!

Some of the best places in Arkansas aren’t the ones with big signs pointing you there.

They’re the ones you stumble across down a trail… a hidden waterfall, a quiet overlook, clear cold water and views that make you stop for a minute.

This is Mountain View, Arkansas. And yes, it really is this beautiful.
