From Steve McDill - Husband of Joi Sherrill
With a heavy heart I'm very grieved to make an announcement I never wanted to make about my beautiful wife & best friend Joi Sherrill. She was the love of my life, my joyous Joi & love & sunshine...
Smyrna, TN - Joi Reinitz Sherrill, 63, died unexpectedly August 8th, 2024 at home. Born on the 4th of July 1961, she was a true red, white, and blue Patriotic American Beauty. Joi was proud of her Utica, NY birthplace roots, where she lived until age six with her loving, devoted grandparents. Garland Texas was home for the next six formative years until she moved to Tennessee at age twelve. As an adult Joi worked hard to support her young family, working as a secretary at Bob Parks Realty, then at Social Services. Her working career then led her to favored positions of administrative work at Cedar Grove & LaVergne High School. At both schools she watched over her own children attending, but also as many as she could on any given day. Then, with deeply formed community connections, she entered into a 20-year, highly accomplished, career in Real Estate. Joi's calling, apparent throughout most of her adult life, was to make dreams come true for many through connections made, and many forming lifelong friends, more like family. Her reach was only exceeded by her grasp of people's needs. It led her to far away places, sharing her gift of love and zeal for life, serving and mentoring many orphanage girls in Mexico. She was never happier than when she had her children and grandchildren together and she cherished deeply the many years they spent celebrating her birthday in Destin, FL. But, like a shooting star which burns so brightly, her light was gone too soon for us. Forevermore she's now with Jesus, home in God’s Glory with family who now embrace her. Those who predeceased her include her mother, Sarah Davis, Mark, her loving husband of 33 years, adult son Matthew & baby Katherine, all Sherrills. She's survived by her husband, Steven McDill, children, Jennifer Reichel & Phillip Reinitz (Brittany) & grandchildren: Cadence & Canon Reichel, Annabelle, Reese & Knox Reinitz, and Trent & Taylor Tenpenny. Her siblings, Cherry Blackwood (Billy), Holly Hardy, John Dauscha, and Carla Bobel (Michael). Her Husband Mark Sherrills's mother, Peggy Sherrill, Her bonus children include Sean McDill & Chloe Quinn. Her bonus grandchildren include Penelope & Maximus Irwin and many more cousins, nieces and nephews. May the memories of togetherness for Joi's family be a light in their eyes and a gift to cherish forever.
Celebration of her life will be held at LifePoint Church in Smyrna TN on Tuesday, August 13th at 4:00 with doors open at 3:30pm.
