✨ There’s always something new coming to 5th Avenue South in Naples.

Walking through downtown Naples lately, I keep spotting “Coming Soon” signs — new restaurants, shops and businesses getting ready to open along one of Naples’ most iconic streets. 🌴

It’s one of the things I love about 5th Avenue South. Naples is constantly evolving, but somehow 5th still manages to keep the charm and character that make it feel like 5th.

And with a new season approaching, I’m excited to see what’s next. 👀

🌴 You may know the Cove Inn in Naples, Florida—but do you know how it began?

This familiar landmark on Naples Bay has been part of the Old Naples waterfront for more than 60 years, and its beginnings might surprise you.

In the early 1960s, Edward and Agnes Schoenthaler purchased the Old Cove restaurant, nearby apartments and more than five acres along Naples Bay with plans for a waterfront hotel and marina.

The result was the Tahitian Cove Congress Inn. 🌺

Designed by architect William Zimmerman with Polynesian influences, the waterfront resort was developed in the early 1960s and included a 75-slip marina.

Imagine Naples then: Hurricane Donna had recently devastated the area, Crayton Cove was part of the city’s working waterfront, and the Naples we know today was still decades away.

Over the years, the property evolved into the Cove Inn, but more than six decades later, it remains a recognizable part of Crayton Cove and the Old Naples waterfront. 🛥️

It’s one of those pieces of Naples history hiding in plain sight.

There’s something special about Old Naples just after sunrise. 🌅🌴

Before the streets get busy and the day begins, you can still find quiet little waterfront corners like this one near Landings Park — calm water, soft morning light and a completely different side of Naples, Florida.

It’s easy to understand why mornings like this are one of my favorite times to explore Old Naples. ✨

🍀 Sometimes the smallest things make you stop and wonder…

Under a table at a restaurant in the Chicago airport, I happened to notice two pennies lying side by side.

Then I looked closer.

Both were from 1976 — a year that has a very special meaning to me. ✨

Just a coincidence? Maybe.

But I’ve always believed that everything happens for a reason and that sometimes little signs appear in the most unexpected places, at exactly the right time.

So yes, I picked them up. And I’m keeping them. ❤️🍀
