unfortunately this news strikes rather close to home tonight! we'll make sure to protect our renters and homeowners in the great city of New Brunswick thanks to the tireless reporting of Carlos Ramírez NJ Noticias and Lazos America Unida.

As many as 1 in 10 tenants facing eviction in Detroit say they’ve been duped by con artists who’ve sold or rented out houses they didn’t own.

Housing equity can be equated with health equity since a proper residential area is essential to an individual's health. The National Fair Housing Association's Keys Unlock Dreams Initiative, a project to bolster homeownership among the minority communities, aims to ensure healthy communities.

The goal of the "Dreams" initiative is to only make housing accessible in minority communities, but also to make medical facilities accessible in these communities. This will lead to a holistic approach in making sure that minority communities have access to both wealth and health, as this is the best way to sustain overlooked communities.

As Address Yourself works on building housing equity for minority communities in New Jersey, we are glad to partner with organizations like the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, to ensure that the health of minority communities is sustained.

A 10-city initiative to boost homeownership in underserved groups also aims to align fair housing and health needs assessments.

There’s a common misconception that, as a homebuyer, you need to come up with 20% of the total sale price for your down payment. In fact, a recent survey by Lending Tree asks what is keeping consumers from purchasing a home. For over half of those surveyed, the ability to afford a down payment is the biggest hurdle.

If saving that much money sounds overwhelming, you might be ready to give up on the dream of homeownership before you even begin – but you don’t have to. According to the Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers from the National Association of Realtors (NAR), the median down payment hasn’t been over 20% since 2005. It may sound surprising, but today’s average down payment is only 12%. That number is even lower for first-time homebuyers, whose average down payment is only 7%.

If you’re a prospective homebuyer, it’s important to know you don’t have to put the full 20% down. And while saving for any down payment amount may feel like a challenge, keep in mind there are programs for qualified buyers that allow them to purchase a home with a down payment as low as 3.5%. There are also options like VA loans and USDA loans with no down payment requirements for qualified applicants.

Reach out to Address Yourself and we can qualify you for up to $10,000 towards your DOWN PAYMENT for your new home!
