Louisiana's Wind Mitigation Program is another tool to help reduce your insurance cost exposure. If you're with an ADMITTED insurance carrier, not surplus lines insurers, they are required to give you a Homeowners Insurance Premium discount. Depending on the age of your home(sweet spot is early 2000s) you may ALREADY have some of these "mitigation" requirements for this program on your home. The fee is nominal compared to the yearly savings.

Are you looking for a way to mitigate your homeowners insurance premium? i.e. save money?

Louisiana has a few programs that you may be interested in. One new(er) and ongoing is the Louisiana Fortified Roof Program which GRANTS the homeowner $10000 for the roof which comes with a mandatory Homeowners Insurance DISCOUNT(for admitted insurance carriers, not surplus lines insurers)!
