This was emotional to create

These are memorial flowers from my father’s services

I’ve been busy creating for other people that I kept pushing his name down the list. It is so much harder to create something meaningful like this for someone who was such a large part of my life personally.

Looking at the photo, I think it looks beautiful, but while creating it, nothing was coming out perfect behind the scenes. There was lots of sweat, tears, frustration, and coping. I kept thinking “it’s not good enough” because let’s be honest I would prefer Dad here instead.

In the end I decided to just go with it and it came out beautifully.

The petals on the red rose and the white dahlias were hand glued individually. I did small amounts of color correcting to some.
This is designed completely with acid free materials and sits behind museum glass with a custom frame. These extra details should help preserve the flowers colors for longer.

It will sit in my office away from any uv light. Where I can see it everyday while I work from home.

These flowers came to me in a plastic grocery bag. (Not good)

flowers hold moisture. 💦
they will mildew.

I did not want to let their meaning be forgotten. So I got creative. 💭
Cyanotype print!

Cyanotype is using UV sensitive iron salts to create camera less prints with the shadows of an object (science!)

And the coolest part is! That my client still gets to keep her flowers!

Since her flowers came to me mildewed I was able to create a print of them for her to cherish her flowers in their beauty!

Here I am casting the shadow under the sun, laying out to dry then framing it for her

Created for a mother who lost her son suddenly in his adult life. He leaves behind his own son and grieving mother; but was met with his father and the loving arms of God.
We wanted to create something she would always have daily. So I created eye glass chain with numerous style bracelets.
Praying this brings her some comfort during unimaginable pain.
