Is 2022 the year you invest in real estate? Buying a property to rent out on Airbnb or other vacation rental platforms can be very tempting given how hot the vacation rental and short-term rental market is, but before you purchase, consider these pros and cons to see if it’s a good fit for you.😁

Pros:

✅ You have flexibility over when you rent out your property.
✅ It’s more profitable than long-term rentals.
✅ Property maintenance is less expensive and easier to do.
✅ More tax deductions and tax breaks are available to you.
✅ There’s less wear and tear on the property.

Cons:

❌ It requires more of your time and effort than a long-term rental would.
❌ There will be a lack of income predictability and consistency.
❌ There’s more risk involved since you have less control over the tenants and there will be a high volume of them.
❌ You pay the utilities instead of passing that cost onto your tenants.
❌ Some cities don’t allow short-term or vacation rentals, so be sure to do your research about the location’s policies BEFORE you buy a property.
