Some clients become so much more than a transaction.

From the very first conversation, I knew this was a special family. They were nervous, hesitant and trying to navigate the big step of selling one home while finding the right place for their next chapter. Being able to walk alongside them through that journey was truly a privilege.

Together, we found the farmhouse they fell in love with before their Newport News home even hit the market. Then we successfully sold their home and helped make the transition to country living a reality.

The best part isn't the closing itself. It's seeing them settled in, enjoying their new home, the kids and dog enjoying their new yard and space, and the lifestyle they dreamed about for their family.

I genuinely enjoyed every minute of working with them and will miss our conversations, their sweet kids, and all the laughs along the way.

A few weeks ago, I was grocery shopping when I got a call from a number I didn't recognize.

The man on the other end asked, ā€œIs this Ela Mitchell? You're a Realtor, right?ā€

To be honest, I thought it was one of those scam calls we all get. šŸ˜…

But we kept talking. He told me about the home he and his wife were looking for, where they were moving from, and what brought them to the area. I was still a little skeptical, but I sent over some homes and we scheduled a showing.

Fast forward a few weeks, and the couple I was nervous about meeting turned out to be some of the kindest, funniest people. What started as a random phone call from complete strangers has turned into great conversations, shared interests, plenty of laughs, and now... we're under contract.

I'm so excited for them and grateful I answered that phone call. šŸ¤

So happy for my sellers on this one. The home was on the market for 12 days, and early on we did receive an offerā€¦ but honestly, it just didnā€™t feel right. It was questionable, weak, and wouldā€™ve meant settling too quickly just for the sake of saying ā€œunder contract.ā€

Instead of jumping at the first thing that came along, we stayed patient, trusted the process, kept showings going, and kept believing the right buyer would come.

That same first offer even came back improved a little later on, but it still wasnā€™t where it needed to be. We held strong just a few more days and it paid off. We ended up receiving the exact kind of offer we were hoping for: full price, clean terms, and reasonable requests.

Patience really does pay off sometimes.

More than anything, Iā€™m proud of my clients for staying positive through the process and not letting fear or pressure make the decision for them. They kept putting out good energy and trusted that something better was coming and it did.

Sometimes the right strategy is knowing when not to settle short. šŸ¤

I don't think I've ever had a client this excited.

We had been looking at homes together, and then things suddenly changed and her husband got deployed and had to leave the very next day.

And thenā€¦ just one day after he left, she found the one.

From that moment on, she was all in.
She would drive by constantly (every 2 days), sending me messages like
ā€œjust checking on my beautiful homeā€ šŸ„¹

They had been living in an apartment, so this isnā€™t just a house. itā€™s the home heā€™ll come back to.

She couldnā€™t wait to close. It was a different kind of excitement.
