I am so very proud to work with the Cocke County Cradle to Career Coalition on this amazing project and grateful for their generous supply of books. I have been working with the School District for almost two years reading to kiddos. It wasn’t until the Coalition stepped in that a true reading program was founded…this is what happens when we put our kids first!

📚✨ Have you heard? Sue Hough of Moody Moon Ridge and C5 are teaming up to bring a monthly guest reader and free books to kindergarten, first, and second graders at Cosby Elementary School!

We’re beginning with one school to put the power of reading aloud and community connection into action and hope to add more partners and more schools in the next five years.

Research shows that children who grow up with more books at home achieve more in school. That is why each student will take home their own copy of each month’s read-aloud selection from September through May.

Research also shows when parents, caregivers, and community members join as guest readers, it strengthens the home-school connection, which research links to better reading outcomes and attendance.
