OMG, YOU BOUGHT A HOUSE!! 🥳
Here are 10 things you need to do when you 1st move in:
)🔑Change the locks: You never know if Crazy Karen or Creepy Uncle Ted have a copy of the old keys. So for peace of mind.. swap ‘em out, swap ‘em out!
)🔌Set up utilities and internet: Let’s be real.. the toddler without cocomelon is no bueno! Confirm your electric, gas, water, trash, and internet accounts are active in your name. This avoids service interruptions and ensures your sanity from day one.
)🔍Inspect the property: Do a full sweep of the property (John Wick style) and locate the main water shut‑off, gas shut‑off, and electrical panel so you’re prepared in case of an emergency.
)📦Update your address: USPS, your bank, employer, subscriptions, Amazon (*of course we all know this one is the most important LOL*). This keeps your mail, billing (EW), and deliveries running smoothly.
)👥Get to know the neighborhood: Introduce yourself to the neighbors (OPTIONAL), take note of local amenities, HOA rules, and neighborhood vibes!
)🛠️Create a home maintenance schedule: Seasonal upkeep prevents expensive repairs and keeps everything running efficiently. If you’d like a FREE seasonal maintenance guide, message me MAINTENANCE.
)❤️🩹Review your home insurance coverage: Make sure your policy matches your home’s value and your needs. *PRO TIP: $ Shop rates every year! $
)🔐Plan your home security: Choose a setup that fits your comfort level and lifestyle so that the only thing that you need to worry about at 2 am is your cat with the zoomies.
)💰Set up an emergency fund: Even in brand new home ISH HAPPENS! A good rule of thumb is to save 1–3% of your home’s value per year for maintenance and emergencies.
)🥳CELEBRATE THE MOVE! YOU DID IT!!
