Apparently, it’s a pretty good week to go house hunting and my good friend, Lisa Sellers, was happy to open the door to this beautiful Norfolk home that just hit the market.🍂🏡

Realtor.com named September 27–October 3 the best week of 2026 to buy a home nationally, based on a mix of more listings, less buyer competition, and prices easing from their summer peak.

Here’s the local twist: their data put the Hampton Roads area’s best week at September 20–26. Did you miss your chance? Of course not. A calendar can’t tell you when the right home—or the right payment—will show up.

Nothing says Hampton Roads networking quite like navigating a little nor’easter before 9 AM. 🌧️🌊😂

But this morning’s BizConnect meeting was absolutely worth it!

We met at the Chrysler Museum’s Glass Studio, and I have to say… networking is even more fun when there’s fire, molten glass, and the possibility of someone blowing something besides hot air. 🔥🤣

Such a cool setting to connect with some of the best people in our local business community — and another reminder of how many incredible places we have right here in Hampton Roads.

Rain, wind, high tide… we still showed up. 💪🏻

Because apparently BizConnect doesn’t cancel — we just float in. 😂🌊

There’s something pretty incredible about being in a room full of women who are leading, building, connecting, and making a difference right here in Hampton Roads. 💪🏼✨

I had such a great time at the Hampton Roads Chamber’s Women’s Summit this week — and one of my favorite parts was running into a few of the powerhouse women I’m lucky enough to also call friends. 🧡

Strong communities don’t just happen. They’re built by people who show up, get involved, support one another, share ideas, open doors, and bring others along with them.

I’m proud to be part of a business community with so many women doing exactly that — in their companies, their industries, and throughout Hampton Roads.

🚨 A quick mortgage market update — because this is one to watch.

Mortgage rates have had a rough few days.

A hotter-than-expected inflation report, rising oil prices and continued uncertainty in the Middle East have all put pressure on the bond market — and when bonds struggle, mortgage rates tend to move higher.

Now all eyes are on the Fed meeting Wednesday.

And here’s the part that may surprise you: the conversation right now isn’t about whether the Fed will cut rates. The market has been pricing in the possibility of a rate hike.

Quick reminder, though: The Fed does not directly set mortgage rates. Mortgage rates are driven much more by the bond market, inflation expectations and the overall economic outlook. That’s why rates can move before the Fed ever makes an announcement.

So what does that mean if you’re buying a home?

👉 If you’re already under contract and floating your rate, talk to your lender about your lock options.

👉 If you’ve been waiting for rates to drop before buying, don’t make a decision based on what you think the Fed might do Wednesday.

👉 And if you’re wondering whether today’s numbers still make sense for you, let’s run them. A rate headline doesn’t tell you what your actual payment or options look like.

There’s a LOT happening in the markets right now. Wednesday could be interesting. 👀
