I spent some time at the 50th Aiken’s Makin’ in Aiken, South Carolina, and it was such a good reminder of how much personality there is in this area: local artists, makers, families, traditions, quirky finds, and people simply enjoying where they live.

The festival may only happen once a year, but this is exactly the kind of thing I want buyers to know about.

Because when you’re deciding where to put down roots, the house matters, but so does everything waiting outside the front door.
