Some of the best days are the ones spent serving. ❤️

This morning, Brooke, Brennan, and I had the opportunity to volunteer at Movement Mortgage’s Impact Day, helping assemble care bags for The Virtue Center.

Every bag we packed is a reminder that someone in our community matters. A small act of kindness can be a powerful source of hope for someone walking through a difficult season.

I love watching my kids choose to serve alongside me. These are the moments that teach compassion, gratitude, and the importance of giving back in ways that don’t always make headlines but can make a lasting difference.

Thank you to Movement Mortgage for investing in our community and to The Virtue Center for the incredible work they do every day to support individuals and families on their journey toward healing and recovery.

Some mornings remind you that changing the world doesn’t always happen in big, dramatic ways. Sometimes it starts with a simple act of serving.

Today, Brooke, Brennan, and I had the privilege of volunteering at Movement Mortgage’s Impact Day with Bri, assembling care bags for The Virtue Center.

The Virtue Center has been serving our community since 1972, helping individuals and families affected by substance use disorders, problem gambling, and mental health challenges find hope, healing, and recovery. Every care bag we packed represented a person who deserves to know they are seen, valued, and not alone.

One of my favorite parts of today was watching my own children serve alongside so many others. There is something powerful about teaching the next generation that compassion isn’t just something we talk about, it’s something we do.

I’m grateful for organizations like The Virtue Center that faithfully care for people every day, and for businesses like Movement Mortgage that intentionally give back to the communities they serve.

Kindness has a ripple effect. You never know how far one small act of love can reach.

Norman Families, Meet Loveworks Leadership! 💜
An Amazing Free Program for Students in Grades 6–8

Hello, friends!

I learned about an incredible Norman nonprofit today, and I immediately knew I needed to share it with families in our community.

Loveworks Leadership provides a welcoming after-school community where middle school students can build confidence, form friendships, explore future careers and discover the unique gifts and leadership qualities already within them.

Their after-school program is available to students in grades 6 through 8 and is offered free of charge, thanks to the generosity of Loveworks donors. Donations are appreciated, but families are not required to pay for their students to participate.

Students may attend one or two afternoons each week for a semester:

Leadership Days: Mondays or Tuesdays
Discovery Days: Wednesdays or Thursdays
Program hours: 4:00–6:00 p.m.
Location: 219 East Gray Street in downtown Norman

Leadership Days include hands-on lessons focused on personal character, social and emotional skills, teamwork, leadership and community involvement. Discovery Days give students opportunities to explore their interests, discover possible career paths and participate in passion projects and real-world learning experiences with local artists, professionals and mentors.

Every student receives individual encouragement and attention from caring volunteers and mentors. The program also includes:

🍽️ A nutritious dinner
🤝 Positive friendships and mentorship
💡 Leadership and character-building activities
🎨 Hands-on projects and creative experiences
🧭 Career and passion exploration
❤️ Opportunities to serve and make a difference in the community

Students are encouraged to follow the Loveworks Family Code and Be R.E.A.L., which stands for:

Respect
Encourage
Appreciate
Love

One of the most helpful parts for working families is transportation. Norman Public Schools provides bus transportation directly to Loveworks for students attending Alcott, Irving, Longfellow and Whittier Middle Schools. Bus route information is provided after registration. Students from other school districts and homeschool families are also welcome to apply, although their families may need to arrange transportation.

Loveworks has been investing in young leaders since 2011. Its mission is to bring community members together to help middle school students develop competence, character, important life skills and a sense of purpose. Their approach helps students discover their potential, understand their personal stories, develop their ideas and take meaningful action toward their goals.

Applications are currently available for the 2026–2027 Afterschool Leadership Program.

📸 Calling Compassionate Photographers in the Oklahoma City Area

I serve as the volunteer Area Coordinator for Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep in the Oklahoma City and Tulsa areas, and we are currently looking for professional photographers who may be open to learning more about this meaningful work.

NILMDTS provides professional remembrance photography at no cost to families experiencing the heartbreaking loss of a baby. These images honor a baby’s life, preserve the love shared within the family, and often become some of the most treasured keepsakes a parent will ever have.

One parent shared:

“When the photographer entered my hospital room, it gave me permission to love my baby out loud.”

Volunteer photographers complete an application and training process, then receive guidance, support, and insurance through NILMDTS. When a local session request is shared with the team, photographers simply respond available or not available. No one is expected to accept every session.

After the session, photographers may edit their own images or upload them for a volunteer retouch artist to complete.

There is absolutely no pressure or immediate obligation. I would simply love to connect with local photographers, answer questions, and help them decide whether this may be something they feel called to do.

You don't have to be a bereavement expert.
You don't have to have all the right words.

Small Business Spotlight: I cannot say enough wonderful things about Jenny and the care she gave Saint! 🐾

She graciously fit us in for an emergency grooming appointment, and Saint came home looking and smelling absolutely amazing. He was in pretty rough shape and was not on his best behavior when we arrived, but Jenny showed both of us so much patience, kindness, and grace.

She kept me updated throughout the appointment with photos and let me know how he was doing, which gave me so much peace of mind. She did an incredible job, and I am beyond happy with her grooming services.

Thank you, Jenny, for taking such wonderful care of Saint and for making a stressful situation feel so much easier. We are so grateful! 💚
