Today hurts, every year.

May 28th will always be more than just a date to us. It is the day our sweet Evan left this earth and became our angel. No matter how many years pass, a part of our hearts will always ache for the little boy we should have been able to watch grow up.

There are moments in life that divide everything into a “before” and “after.” Losing Evan was one of those moments.

Sometimes people think time makes grief smaller, but that is not really true. Time simply teaches you how to carry it while still moving forward. The love never leaves. The missing never leaves. There will always be a quiet part of us that wonders who Evan would be today, what his laugh would sound like, what kind of person he would have become.

Today we remember him with love, and with hearts that still long for him. We remember the tiny details. The hopes we had for him. The dreams that left with him. The deep love that still remains.

I hope today feels peaceful there, in Heaven. I hope somehow our love still reaches him.

Not a day goes by that you are not loved. Not a day goes by that you are not missed. Forever our baby.
