If I only had 24 hours to spend in La Crosse, this is what I’d do. 👇

🌄 Grandad Bluff: Take in the view of the city and the Mississippi River. Even after growing up here, that view never gets old.

🥾 Hike the bluffs: Get outside and explore the trails through Hixon Forest. A little fresh air and a good excuse to earn that ice cream later.

🛍️ Shop local downtown: Browse the shops, find something you didn’t know you needed, and support the people who make downtown La Crosse what it is.

🚢 Cruise on the La Crosse Queen: Spend some time on the Mississippi and see the area from the water. There’s something about being out on the river that makes you slow down and enjoy the day.

🍷 Dinner at Le Château: Start with a drink downstairs at La Cave, then enjoy French cuisine upstairs. Make an evening of it.

🍦 Ice cream at The Pearl: Homemade ice cream in a classic downtown ice cream parlor. I’m making time for this one.

Born and raised here, and I still appreciate having all of this right in our backyard.

Some places just get breakfast right. Rosie’s Café is one of them! ☕🥓

Tucked away on the south side of La Crosse is one of my favorite little hidden gems. Rosie’s Café has been serving up good, old-fashioned breakfast and lunch for over 40 years, and there’s a reason people keep coming back!

We’re talking homemade food, hot coffee, friendly faces, and the kind of waitstaff that makes you feel like a regular, even if it’s your first visit.

Every chance I get, I make a point to stop in. Nothing fancy, nothing overcomplicated. Just really good food and a little hometown charm.

And if you leave hungry, I’m not sure we ate at the same place! 😂

5 things you’ll love about Onalaska, WI… and 2 you might complain about. 😂

1. Lake Onalaska sunsets
There’s just something about being near the water when the sun starts going down.
2. Life near the water
Boating, fishing, kayaking, or just finding a spot to relax. The river and Lake Onalaska are a huge part of what makes living here so good.
3. Trails + outdoor space
Between the parks, walking trails, bike paths, and places to get outside, you don’t have to go far to enjoy the outdoors.
4. Everything is convenient
Groceries, restaurants, shopping, schools, gyms, coffee… most of what you need is only a few minutes away.
5. It still has that familiar-face feeling
Onalaska has grown, but it still feels like a community. You’re never too far from someone you know.

Now for the 2 things you might not love…

😂 The Highway 16 stoplights
Some days it feels like you hit every. single. one.

😂 Running into someone you know every time you leave the house
Quick Target run looking questionable? That’ll be the exact day you see three people you know.

But honestly, those are pretty small complaints.

Onalaska gives you the convenience of having everything nearby while still being close to the river, trails, parks, and everything that makes the Coulee Region such a great place to live.
