Classic example of how news outlets cherry pick the stats they use to paint whatever picture they want, and to promote whatever cause they want.
KSL just reported that cost of living in Utah is the cause that families are declining. Obviously we all want lower costs, cheaper living, and better child care. But the picture this article paints is not accurate. KSL.com
When cost of living is taken into account Utah ranks #1 IN THE NATION for the highest incomes according to the Gardner Policy Institute's recent study. Could we do even better? YES! Is Utah loosing ground compared to other states? I would argue that we are not.

The 2025 Best States ranking is out, and U.S. News & World Report evaluated all 50 states to highlight how they excel in several areas, including education, health care, crime, environment, and economy.

📍 Utah takes the #1 spot for the third year in a row, scoring high in almost every category.
📚 New Jersey leads in education.
🌺 Hawaii comes out on top for health care.

The Best States ranking methodology looked at 71 metrics and thousands of data points to measure how well U.S. states are performing for their residents. It also looked at a state's economic growth, infrastructure, public safety, fiscal stability, and opportunities. More weight was given to some categories based on surveys of what matters most to residents.

This will be great for property owners if it is passed. It is helping judges apply the law consistently, and giving needed stability to owners.

Judges in Utah would lose the ability to decide whether to give tenants extra time to move out following an eviction order under a bill that cleared a House committee.

When I lived in France (from 1994 to 1996) I talked to people who explained a lot about government control of their lives. The country was pretty socialist at the time (according to my limited understanding back then). Today I read about a state legislator in Utah who wants to stop corporations and investment trusts from buying homes in Utah. Tyler Clancy from Provo. He talks about his desire to buy a home, but that they are too expensive. Sounds nice right?

But his liberal willingness to subsidize the masses (himself included in this case) by taking money from others (along with some socialist ideology) is showing through. I am shocked that an elected official in Utah has the guts to propose something like this. He is literally proposing a LAW that would restrict who a homeowner could sell their house to! Do we really want the government controlling the largest asset that most people own?

Tyler... You are one crazy dude! Good luck in the next election!

PS. I appreciate your service as a police officer, and in the US military... Keep your crazy hands off my house! LOL.

Utah County continues to lead the state of Utah in Growth. Many cities in Utah County also top national charts for business opportunity, startup environment, economic outlook, etc... I have heard experts predict that UTC will have similar prices for housing in 2050 as what the San Jose area is seeing right now.

About 60% of the U.S.'s counties experienced growth over the past year, including three-fourths of Utah's counties, per new federal data.
