Chicago buyers, this may be one of the most important homebuyer updates to look into right now.
The new HomeGrown Purchase Assistance Program is expected to launch June 8 and may provide eligible Chicago homebuyers with assistance toward down payment and closing costs.
The headline number is up to $70,000, but letβs be very clear: that amount depends on program guidelines, household income, property location, and funding availability.
This is not automatic approval. This is not a guarantee. But for eligible buyers, it may help reduce the upfront cash needed to purchase a primary residence in Chicago.
Hereβs what buyers should know:
The property must be in the City of Chicago.
The home must be your primary residence.
Income limits apply.
A required buyer contribution applies.
Grant amounts are based on Zone A or Zone B.
Funding is subject to availability.
If buying a home has felt out of reach because of the upfront cash needed, this is worth reviewing before you assume you have to keep waiting.
