🚒 FIRST RESPONDERS — I PICKED MY PARTNER! 🍩💙

City of New Smyrna Beach Fire Department

SO MUCH FUN! I GRABBED MY FRIEND MICHELLE WHO IS ALSO A FAMILY SERVICES COUNSELOR. EDGEWATER POLICE MADE OUR LIST TOO!

Tomorrow I’m coming to see my friends at the City of New Smyrna Beach Fire Department — and I’m bringing DONUTS! 🍩

It’s First Responders Pick a Partner Week, and when it came time for me to choose who I wanted to show a little extra love to, this one was easy.

After seeing the incredible job these first responders did helping save those manatees, I just had to say THANK YOU. 🥹

You take care of our community every single day — sometimes the people, sometimes apparently the manatees too! 😂 — and I wanted to bring a little sweetness your way and let you know that your community sees you and appreciates you.

So, New Smyrna Beach Fire Department… expect me tomorrow!

A little glimpse of where I spend my Saturdays. 💛

It’s quiet here today at Edgewater–New Smyrna Cemetery, and between appointments and getting some work done, I took a walk around the grounds.

One thing I’m learning very quickly in this new chapter of my life is that a cemetery isn’t simply a place associated with loss.

It’s filled with names, marriages, families, veterans, stories, traditions and heritage.

And there are so many different ways families choose to be remembered — some traditional, some simple, some very personal.

I’m here every weekend, and if you’ve ever driven by and wondered about the cemetery, the different memorial options, cremation placement, or even just “How does all of this work?” — you are absolutely welcome to ask me.

You do not have to be ready to make arrangements to have a conversation with me.

Sometimes getting your ducks in a row starts with simply knowing what the choices are. 🦆

It’s been a quiet Saturday afternoon at the cemetery… and I’ve actually loved it. 🌿

I’ve gotten a lot accomplished today, but one of my favorite things has been spending some time on Find a Grave helping people who may live hundreds—or even thousands—of miles away see the headstones and markers of their family members.

And I kept thinking…

How incredible is that?

Something that I can walk over and photograph in just a few minutes might mean everything to someone who has been searching for a grandparent, great-grandparent, aunt, uncle or another piece of their family history.

This job keeps showing me that cemeteries aren't only about loss.

They’re full of names, stories, history, families and connections.

And apparently on a quiet Saturday afternoon, I can be part cemetery counselor… part family-history detective. 🕵️‍♀️🌿
