Artemis II is scheduled to launch no earlier than April 1, 2026, on a 10-day crewed mission to orbit the Moon, marking the first human flight to the lunar vicinity since 1972.

The mission will test NASA's Orion spacecraft and Space Launch System (SLS) with four astronauts aboard, executing a "free-return" figure-eight trajectory around the Moon.

Flight Details and Key Milestones
Mission Type: Crewed lunar flyby (no landing).

Crew: Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, Mission Specialist 1 Christina Koch, and Mission Specialist 2 Jeremy Hansen.

Launch Vehicle: SLS Block 1 rocket.
Launch Site: Kennedy Space Center, Florida (LC-39B).
Duration: ~10 days.

Key Operations:

Earth Orbit: Initial orbit for system checks (water system, toilets, life support).

Translunar Injection: Burn to transition from Earth orbit to a lunar trajectory.
Lunar Flyby: A "free-return" trajectory will take the crew around the far side of the Moon, with a closest approach of approximately 4,000–6,500 km (roughly 2,500–4,000 miles).

Re-entry & Splashdown: Re-entry into Earth's atmosphere at roughly 25,000 mph, with a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean.

Mission Objectives
Demonstrate Capabilities: Validate the Orion spacecraft's life support systems and performance for deep space, crewed missions.

Human Performance: Test crew operations and manual piloting, including potential manual maneuvers.
Pave Way for Moon to Mars: Lay the groundwork for Artemis III, which is expected to land the first woman and person of color on the Moon.

The mission is highly packed with activities, ensuring that the 10-day journey is fully utilized for testing and scientific observation, with the crew’s activities planned in detail.

Zac's on Tap! End of an Era!

Steve Hicks and Dave Parker's "The Office Bar and Grill" property at 1748 El Camino Real in San Carlos and the adjacent office property was sold to the Nazerian family of Millbrae.

I was told by the seller agent that it will be "Mediterranean", but there's a sign permit on file with the city under the name, "Zac’s Bar & Grill".

The Office has been a great place to walk a couple blocks from my house for some live music, surprisingly good food and a wide selection of beers.

I hope that the Nazerian family brings back the Sunday Live Music Jam to South San Carlos!

I also sold the office building across the alley from "The Office" at 1761 Laurel St for $1,720,000. $7,900,000 in commercial properties sold this month!

RESTAURANT NEWS! Yes, that's my family's "Last Lap Tavern" of Knoxville, TN in Sports Illustrated's "Watering Holes" article about the Best Sports Bars in America!

We shared the honors with...Alpine Inn of Portola Valley, CA.

My uncle, Jim England, went from playing football for University of Tennessee to continuing the family business with "Last Lap", as our family was one of the first Kentucky Fried Chicken franchisees...after owning ranches and hatcheries and livestock auction houses and motels in Agri-business for centuries in Ireland and North Carolina.

We've got a few restaurant candidates for 637 Laurel Street and 633 Laurel Street, but we're working on a power upgrade from 200 to 400 amps.

The three surrounding buildings around 633, 635, 637 Laurel are for sale.

I also have 501 Laurel with 3,000 sf to 6,000 sf of medical office for lease. I have 987 Laurel with 1,185 sf of Medical office for lease or sale. I have 1761 Laurel with 2,900 sf of office for sale.

I hear that "Olive Crush" is moving down the street.

Dave Parker's Rustic House at 920 El Camino Real, San Carlos, CA 94070 leased the space to a Sushi restaurant.

Dave and Steve Hick's "The Office" and their adjacent office building is still for sale for $5.3M. I heard that the sale listing would get about 90 days and then they'd start to consider lease offers from restaurants, not sure. I enjoyed the live music at The Office for years, just a few blocks from my house.

The Carl's Jr restaurant is slated to become high density affordable housing, along with the massage parlor next door. I've seen large groups of guys gathering in the parking lot occasionally. Am I missing a happy hour?

We've got a few interested buyers in the nearby 1761 Laurel St office building, adjacent to "The Office".

The former CEO of Wholefoods owns the apartment building next to my 1761 Laurel listing, so you'd be in good company to buy my building, which presents a potential high density development opportunity. We're at $1.8M.

The former Three Pigs and Noshery is getting sold to a family playground cafe.

We love the new developments on Laurel St, and while interest rates are still a bit high and construction costs are still high, we hope that the city of San Carlos planning staff, appointed planning commissioners and elected City Council members do everything possible to encourage redevelopment of the many dilapidated buildings of SoCarlos.

These old buildings were never built to last forever, and building safety codes, cleaner and more efficient building design and materials make a big difference for greener, healthier living.

City support for new development does create an incentive for the seller/buyer to clean up pollution, and the new property generates way more property tax to support the community.
