The short answer is no. You are not required to use a real estate agent when buying a home.

However, many buyers, especially first-time home buyers and people relocating to Panama City, find that having someone guide them through the process helps them avoid costly mistakes and feel much more confident along the way.

Buying a home involves much more than finding a house online. There are contracts, deadlines, inspections, appraisals, financing requirements, title work, and negotiations that all need to stay on track.

A good REALTOR® helps you understand the process, stay within important contract deadlines, coordinate inspections, and navigate issues that may come up before closing.

For military families relocating to Tyndall Air Force Base or Naval Support Activity Panama City, having local guidance can be especially helpful when buying from out of town or working within a relocation timeline.

How long does it take to buy a home in Panama City, Florida?

Every transaction is different, but once a buyer is officially under contract, most home purchases in Panama City and Bay County typically close within about 21 to 45 days.

The timeline usually includes the home inspection, appraisal, financing approval, title work, and final closing steps.

For military families relocating to Tyndall Air Force Base or Naval Support Activity Panama City, having a clear timeline early in the process can make a move feel much less stressful.

One thing many buyers do not realize is that the process often moves faster when buyers quickly provide the documents and information their lender needs. A strong lender can sometimes process a loan in as little as 21 days.

It is also important to schedule the home inspection, survey, and appraisal as soon as possible so those items do not delay closing.

One of the reasons summer is such a popular time to buy and sell a home in Panama City, Florida is simply because it works well for a lot of people’s schedules.

Families often prefer to move during the summer while school is out, military families relocating to Tyndall Air Force Base or Naval Support Activity Panama City are frequently trying to settle in before the next school year, and many buyers feel more comfortable house hunting when the days are longer and the weather is nicer.

Summer also tends to bring more homes to the market throughout Panama City and Bay County, which gives buyers more options to choose from.

For sellers, that usually means more buyer activity and more opportunities for showings.
