But what does it actually mean? 🤔

Think of it as a written agreement between you and your Realtor that explains how you’ll work together.

Here’s what it covers:

🔑 Who your Realtor represents
Your Realtor is working on your behalf and helping protect your interests throughout the home-buying process.

📅 How long you’ll work together
The agreement establishes a specific time period for the representation.

🏠 What your Realtor will do for you
This can include helping you find homes, providing market information, writing and negotiating offers, coordinating the transaction, and helping you navigate the process from contract to closing.

💰 How your Realtor gets paid
The agreement explains the brokerage’s compensation. Compensation is negotiable, and the seller or listing side may contribute toward it—but buyers should understand what happens if the amount offered doesn’t cover the agreed-upon compensation.

📋 What happens if circumstances change
The agreement establishes the terms of your professional relationship, including what happens if the relationship ends or you purchase a property during or after the agreement.

The important part:

A Buyer Agency Agreement is not something you should just sign without reading.

It’s a contract, so your Realtor should take the time to explain it and answer your questions before you sign.
