🇺🇸 September 11, 2001
25 years later, I hope September 11 never becomes just another date on the calendar.
We remember the 2,977 lives taken that day.
We remember the first responders who ran toward what everyone else was running from.
We remember the families who said goodbye that morning without knowing it would be the last time.
But I also hope we remember September 12th.
We remember the flags hanging from every porch.
The strangers helping strangers.
The firefighters, police officers, neighbors and ordinary Americans who became heroes.
For a moment, we weren’t divided by politics, opinions, backgrounds or differences.
We were simply Americans.
That is the part of September 11 I hope we carry with us- not only today, but every day of our American lives.
Teach your children about it.
Say their names.
Tell the stories.
Remember the heroes.
Remember how quickly an ordinary morning changed our country forever.
Because the greatest way we can honor those we lost is to make sure future generations understand why we promised:
WE WILL NEVER FORGET. 🇺🇸
