Hold off on any heavy pruning too!

With temperatures near 80° Friday and many days in the 70s to around 80° next week, you might be tempted to get out there and start your spring planting. RESIST THE URGE!

The average date of the last freeze in our area can occur anywhere from mid-March along the coast to as late as the first week of April across the P*e Dee and along the Border Belt. We all know how damaging these late freezes can be. In fact, two of the most devastating freezes have occurred in the last 10 years. Many remember the Easter freeze April 8, 2007. More recently, it was even colder on the morning of March 16, 2017. That freeze was so bad that 85% of the peach and blueberry crops were wiped out across South Carolina. Again, RESIST THE URGE to plant. It's highly likely we'll get another freeze sometime over the next 7 weeks!
