🌵 My Valley picks for you this Labor Day Weekend!
1. Arizona Black Rodeo - Scottsdale | Sept. 4-6
WestWorld of Scottsdale
This is probably my #1 "something different" pick for you. It combines rodeo, Black cowboy/cowgirl history, live entertainment and a very Arizona-specific experience. It's at WestWorld in Scottsdale.
2. Saguaro & Skate - Desert Botanical Garden | Sept. 4-6
Desert Botanical Garden
This one sounds particularly fun: a roller-disco pop-up under the lights, with live music and food. Friday and Sunday are 21+ nights; Saturday is all ages. Admission is $15 in addition to Garden admission or membership.
3. Flashlight Nights - Saturday, Sept. 5
Also at the Desert Botanical Garden, this is a completely different vibe from Saguaro & Skate: explore the Garden after dark with nocturnal-desert activities and wildlife experiences. Given the heat, I'd choose this over almost any daytime outdoor event.
4. Eastmark Farmers Market - Saturday morning
If you're looking for your coffee + browsing + local shopping fix, this is a strong Saturday-morning option. It's a good excuse to get out early, grab breakfast/coffee and browse local vendors before the heat becomes oppressive.
5. ASU football + surrounding festivities - Saturday
The Sun Devils open the season against Morgan State. If you're in the mood for people, energy, drinks, tailgating and a big social atmosphere, this could be more fun than simply going to a concert. There is also a 21+ pool party at the Sheraton Mesa tied to the game.
6. Labor Day Monday - live music + w**e
Downtown Phoenix's calendar has Trivia Night at GenuW**e Arizona W**e Bar at 6 p.m. Monday, which actually fits your interests nicely: w**e + something social without committing to a huge Labor Day production.

Friday: Arizona Black Rodeo or Saguaro & Skate
Saturday morning: Eastmark Farmers Market + coffee
Saturday evening: Desert Botanical Garden Flashlight Nights
Sunday: Keep it flexible - brunch, shopping, pool or live music
