WHAT'S ATTORNEY REVIEW?

If you're buying or selling a home in New Jersey, you'll probably hear the term "Attorney Review."

Here's the simple version:

Buyer and seller sign the contract

Attorney Review begins

Attorneys review the contract and may suggest changes

Once everyone agrees, Attorney Review is concluded

The contract becomes binding and the transaction moves forward

One thing many first-time buyers don't realize is that a letter of "disapproval" during Attorney Review is usually a normal part of the process. It does not necessarily mean the deal is falling apart. It often means the attorneys are requesting revisions or clarifications before moving forward.

Although attorneys are not required in New Jersey, most buyers and sellers choose to have one on their side.
