Have you heard about the upcoming proposed settlement agreement the National Association of Realtors (NAR) has agreed to?

With all of the media currently on the topic of the NAR litigation in recent months, I will be sharing information as it becomes available to help educate you, the consumer, regarding the upcoming potential and approved changes in how agents will be required to do business with their clients when buying and selling real estate in the future.

This post is to help keep it clear on what has always been and isn't changing. This article provides direct links to the NAR Handbook the way it is today before any changes are made. The current proposed settlement that is in the news is subject to approval and may take months. Meanwhile I am working diligently to get ahead of the change to create a smooth transition for my buyers and sellers. Please feel free to reach out anytime with questions or for clarification. The rule that has been the subject of litigation requires only that listing brokers communicate an offer of compensation. Other rules throughout the MLS Handbook and NAR policy expressly prohibit setting or suggesting any such amount.
