My Fed forecast for this afternoon 👀🚨

I actually expect the Fed to RAISE rates today. 🤔💭

Sounds like bad news for mortgage rates, right?

Not necessarily.

Mortgage rates have already moved roughly 1.25% higher since March, largely because of persistent inflation and rising inflation expectations.

A Fed hike could actually help stabilize mortgage rates in the short term if the market believes it will help get inflation back under control.

I’m not expecting a massive move in mortgage rates either way today, but I do expect volatility. The bigger story will be what the Fed says about the months ahead.

There’s still a lot of work to do to keep inflation and the economy moving within the Fed’s preferred range.

Let’s see what happens at 1:00.
