in the community. I have lived in Plainfield for 25 years and counting and have been a Realtor for 19 years. Our family moved here in 1999 and I have been here for most of the new development of the community following the devastating tornado that came through town on August 28th,1990.

Looking for something fun to do tonight? Head out to the Grundy County Speedway on Rt. 47 in Morris for some fun local racing! Races run every Friday night from Memorial Day through Labor Day weather permitting. It’s a great fun night for the whole family. (Ear protection is recommended for smaller children). Looking for something free and fun to do this summer now that the dog days of summer are fast approaching? How about an afternoon at The Village Green in the heart of downtown Plainfield!!!

The perfect mix of sun, shade and wide open spaces! Unplug and unwind with the kids while they enjoy the splash pad, park, half court basketball ball hoops or tennis/pickleball courts! Convenient public bathrooms and covered picnic pavillion!

The Plainfield St. Patrick’s Day Parade is tomorrow at 1:00 in Downtown Plainfield! Everybody is Irish on St. Paddy’s Day!

Santa Con 2024: I am posting this too late for everyone this year because I just found out about it, but next year, save the date for the annual Santa Con pub crawl in downtown Plainfield!

It was hilarious to see so many Santa Claus’s filling up the restaurants and bars on Lockport Street tonight. I’m not sure who was behind the mask, but the Grinch from the Black Lagoon was nice enough to take a selfie with me as we were leaving!

Even better was that it was a Claus for a cause and they were taking donations for Toys for Tots. An anonymous Santa even came in and filled up one of the bins at Garage Band while we were there.

If you’re looking for something to do this holiday season, I highly recommend getting tickets to the Illumination at the Morton Arboretum in Glen Ellyn! We took our kids a few years ago and it was absolutely breathtaking. With so many people struggling with gift ideas for Christmas, many times the gift of experiences get overlooked. Things one of those things that would be worth way more than a gift card or sweater in the years to come. 😉

A couple of things to note: You need to purchase tickets in advance. Weekends and the later evening book up faster. Members get a discount on tickets. They also have a fire pit area so bring your own fixings for S’more’s! (I wish I had known that!)
