Let's talk home mortgage rates today.
The expectation is that mortgage rates will fall, following the Fed Reserve's announcement tomorrow regarding the overnight lending rate.

Reality: the bond market and mortgage companies have already anticipated this adjustment. Rates have fallen for the fourth straight day, and are at the lowest point since Feb 2023.

Home buyers: time to get an updated pre-approval from your favorite lender. You may be surprised at the difference in monthly cost compared to rates from June or July!

Dear real estate buyers, today might just be the last day of calm before shaking up the mortgage box tomorrow.

Mortgage rates saw a modest improvement today, aligning closely with 6.5% for top-tier conventional 30-year fixed rates. This positive change was driven by a lower-than-expected Producer Price Index (PPI), easing inflation concerns at the wholesale level. Tomorrow, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) report will be released, potentially causing significant fluctuations depending on the retail inflation data.

If you're just here to keep an eye on daily changes in mortgage rates, today was solid.  There was a modest improvement versus yesterday and the average lender is almost perfectly in line with 6.5% when it comes to top tier conventional 30yr fixed rates. For those interested in more of....
