Happy New Year!
I sincerely hope that everyone had a wonderful Holiday season spent with family and friends.
I want to thank those who used my inspection services or referred my services in 2018 and years past.

While contemplating the new year upon us, it occurred to me that the year 2019 will mark my 25th year performing building inspections on residential and light commercial properties. Starting back in 1994.

I look forward to serving the inspection needs of property buyers and sellers in 2019 and beyond God willing, and wish all of you a healthy, happy and prosperous year to come!

I just watched a piece on the news tonight that was about a common and important safety concern I point out quite often in my home inspection reports. It was about cooking stoves / ranges falling over forward when children may open the oven door and climb on it causing it to tip over. Many children have been hurt or worse from this disaster waiting to happen. For many years now, stoves come with a device called a tip-over bracket and it is also a code compliance item in newer construction. Pleas folks, especially if you have young curious children, Check your stove either by grabbing the back of the control panel at the top and pulling a bit forward or by opening the oven door all the way and push down a little (don't push too hard and have it fall over on you). You should feel it stop before it goes far forward. If not, have someone knowledgeable check for the presence of a tip-over bracket and if there is not one, have one installed!
