Sharing this helpful reminder from Douglas County Solid Waste Department. Did you know certain light bulbs can cause landfill fires if tossed in your regular trash? The good news is there is a solution. Light bulbs can be recycled at Batteries Plus or Lowes, both located in Roseburg. So next time you are heading up that way, toss those old bulbs in a bag and drop them off while you are there. A small habit change that makes a real difference for our community and the people who work at our landfills. Worth a read and worth passing along. 💚

Fire season is here across all Oregon districts and that means all of us need to be paying attention. As a property manager I want the people in the homes I manage to feel prepared and informed. Now is a great time to check in on defensible space, make sure smoke detectors are working and have an emergency plan ready to go. Give this a read and make sure you and your household have a plan. Stay safe out there. 💚

All Oregon Department of Forestry districts are now in fire season. This means that to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires, fire restrictions may be in place where you live or at a destination you plan to visit or recreate.

Check local restrictions and fire danger levels at https://www.oregon.gov/odf/fire/Pages/Restrictions.aspx

🌿 Just wrapped up my monthly park cleanup and wow, did the park have some things to say today.

I spent an hour out at the park this morning as part of my Adopted-a-Park commitment and filled a whole bag with litter. I put together a quick video showing exactly what I picked up because I think it helps to actually see it. Some of it will surprise you. Our parks are one of the things that make Reedsport a great place to live and a little awareness goes a long way. Watch the video, share it with a neighbor and let me know what you think. Every piece of trash that doesn't hit the ground makes a difference. 💚

As a property manager, I prioritize keeping our neighborhoods safe, peaceful, and welcoming for everyone. The City of Reedsport recently shared an important reminder about local leash laws, and it is a great opportunity to talk about how we can all be good neighbors and responsible pet owners.

In our community, all dogs must be kept on a secure leash whenever they are off their owner’s private property. This applies to our city streets, sidewalks, and beautiful local parks. Keeping your dog on a leash is not just a legal requirement; it ensures the safety of your pet, respects neighbors who may be uncomfortable around loose animals, and protects our local wildlife.

Responsible property management and true stewardship go hand in hand with respecting these shared community standards. By keeping our dogs leashed, we prevent accidents, minimize disruptions, and maintain the clean, friendly environment that makes Reedsport such a wonderful place to live.

Thank you to all of our residents who already practice this every day. Let's continue working together to keep our neighborhoods safe and enjoyable for every person and pet.

Knowing Your Rights: A Guide to Oregon Habitability Standards 🏠

As a licensed property manager here in Reedsport, I believe in being a "True Steward" of our community. That means ensuring every rental home is safe, sanitary, and legally compliant. Whether you are a tenant or an owner, it is important to know that Oregon Law (ORS 90.320) sets specific "Habitability Standards" that must be met for every rental.

A home is considered "inhabitable" if it lacks:

Heat: A heating system capable of maintaining at least 68°F.

Sanitation: Buildings and grounds that are clean, sanitary, and free from accumulations of debris, filth, and pests (rodents/vermin).

Water & Plumbing: Access to safe drinking water and plumbing/sewage systems in good working order.

Safety: Working locks on all outer doors and window latches on all windows that open.

Structural Integrity: Floors, walls, ceilings, and roofs that are weather-protected and in good repair.

What can you do?
If a home doesn't meet these standards, tenants have the right to request repairs in writing. For "essential services" like heat, owners typically have only 72 hours to begin repairs after notice.

Our community is stronger when we all look out for one another. If you have questions about these standards or need resources, please don't hesitate to reach out.

I am proud to share that True Steward Property Management has officially adopted Rainbow Plaza!

Stewardship is at the heart of everything I do, whether I am managing a rental property or caring for our shared public spaces. Taking care of Rainbow Plaza is a natural extension of my mission to protect and enhance the beauty of the Reedsport community.

It is inspiring to see so many local families, businesses, and organizations stepping up to care for our parks. These spaces are part of what makes our town such a special place to live, and I am honored to do my part in keeping them vibrant for everyone to enjoy.

With the beautiful spring weather ahead, I encourage you to get out and enjoy all of our local parks. There are still two parks available for adoption if you or your organization are looking for a way to give back to our wonderful community!

We now have 6 parks that have been adopted:

Bumble Bee Boat Ramp - Lofstedt Family
Henderson Park - Dunes Family Health Care
Bicentennial Park - Frisbee Golf Club
Hahn Park - Reedsport Lions International
Post Office Park - Bryan Family
Rainbow Plaza - True Steward Property Management

There are 2 parks still available and with great weather just around the corner, this is a great opportunity to get out to one of the city parks and enjoy some fresh air.
