⛳ One More Golf Tournament Before the Season Wraps Up!

Spending Labor Day at the Tipton Oaks Golf Course in Tipton, Kansas, for their annual 27-hole tournament. I’ve been fortunate to play in this tournament for close to 10 years now, and it’s always one I look forward to.

It’s a great group of guys, a lot of familiar faces, and a chance to spend the day with many of the local farmers and landowners who make communities like Tipton what they are. There’s usually plenty of good-natured trash talk mixed in with a little golf along the way!

This will be my last scheduled tournament of the year, so I’m glad to finish the season close to home and support a local golf course that means a lot to the community.

One of the things I enjoy most about being a Land Specialist with Whitetail Properties Real Estate is getting to work in rural communities like this throughout North Central Kansas and South Central Nebraska. Whether we’re talking land, crops, cattle, hunting—or trying to figure out how to get around the golf course in fewer strokes—I always enjoy visiting with the people who live and work on the land.

$7 corn? I’m guessing there are a lot of farmers out there who wouldn’t complain about seeing that number again!

Working in land real estate, I get the opportunity to talk with farmers and landowners on a daily basis, and one thing is pretty clear—it’s about time agriculture caught a break.

Input costs, equipment, interest rates and just about everything else it takes to put a crop in the ground have gotten more expensive. Unfortunately, commodity prices haven’t always followed along.

Whether we actually see $7 corn remains to be seen, but it sure is nice to hear some optimism surrounding commodity prices again.

A stronger farm economy is good for more than just the producer. Those dollars have a way of making their way through equipment dealerships, local businesses, land markets and our small rural communities.

Hopefully the remainder of 2026 and heading into 2027 brings some better opportunities for the people who make their living in agriculture.

I know a lot of folks who are ready for it!
