🌪 NEW JERSEY TORNADOES — What Yesterday Taught Us
Three tornado touchdowns were reported across New Jersey yesterday — Cape May Point, Stanhope, and Parsippany-Troy Hills. No injuries reported, but downed trees and power outages made for a long evening in Sussex and Morris counties.
Here’s the thing most people don’t realize: NJ averages about 2 tornadoes a year. We’re not Tornado Alley, but weather doesn’t check your zip code first. Peak season runs June through August — which is right now.
As a realtor, I talk a lot about square footage and school districts. But knowing your home’s safe room matters just as much. Lowest level, interior room, away from windows. Have a plan before you need one.
Did you receive the “Go to your basement” alert on your phone ????
Stay weather-aware out there, Jersey. 💙
