So the ancestral journey begins. Started off in Zagreb yesterday after nearly missing my connection out of Amsterdam. But adrenaline, sheer will and a couple of friendly flight attendants kicked in to save the day. Tonite in Sisak we were hosted by a second cousin and some other relatives. We learned that our paternal grandfather was one of five kids (we’d only known of one other), among many other amazing things. On Easter Sunday we’re going to lunch with family where they will be roasting a whole lamb over an open fire. We used to do this every summer with our extended family. I cannot even express in words how much this means to me.
