CALIFORNIA DREAM FOR ALL PROGRAM UPDATE
The governments 20% DOWN PAYMENT ASSISTANCE program for first-time homebuyers in California is making a return with some changes:
1.) Selection will be determined through a lottery system.
Under this new system, eligibility is the key. All eligible participants have an equal opportunity, making it a matter of luck and timing. No biases, no complications. Simply stay hopeful and await your chance. To participate, first, secure preapproval from a CALHFA approved lender. When the registration portal opens in March 2024, your lender will assist in getting you registered, ensuring your entry into the lottery.
So bid farewell to the race to secure a contract! Instead of competing for contracts, the "race" now revolves around getting registered and entering the lottery system. Applying for the "Dream for All Program" has become incredibly simple, guided by clear steps.
2.) Expanded income requirements.
The income prerequisites for the "Dream for All Program" have been broadened, making it more inclusive than ever. This change opens doors for more dreamers to realize their aspirations.
TIPS TO IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES
* Ensure your income falls within the new limits, which are now set at 120% of the Area Median Income (AMI) for the county where the house is located.
