Every spring at dusk we hear a gentle choir emanating from our two ponds and wetlands nearby. 🐸
One of our former APCP members, an amateur herpetologist, concluded that potentially nine species of frogs and toads contribute to our choir. No, he didn’t put on waders and spend a week collecting specimens, but he did consult Minnesota DNR’s amphibian habitat analyses and even the NASA hyperspectral mapping….
* American Bullfrog— deep, foghorn-like bass
* American Toad —20 to 30 seconds of high-pitched trills
* Boreal Chorus Frog—like teeth of a comb being strummed
* Copes Gray Treefrog—slow, melodic, musical trills
* Eastern Grey Treefrog—high pitched, flute-like sounds
* Green Frog—like an out-of-tune banjo being plucked
* Spring Peeper—high-pitched peeps and chirps
* Northern Leopard Frog—low snores and grunts
* Wood Frog—like a quacking duck

Today,May 16th, is “Do Something Good For Your Neighbor Day” and yesterday was “Chocolate Chip Day”….
The other day Jim shared his freshly baked cinnamon rolls with a few neighbors and in the returned containers were Chocolate Chip cookies and caramels…(must be a caramel day😉)
So I guess, here at APCP, we celebrate Neighbors Everyday💫
