The Round Rock Recycling center (310 Deepwood Drive) often, but not always, has moving boxes for free. They are kept in a pile near the cardboard bailing machine. Ask the fellas there, they are always helpful.

This is a good time to start a compost pile because you need both green and brown materials. This video shows how to do the layering and getting the moisture right. It is a good YouTube channel for organic gardening. PS: Don't use kitchen scraps as it attracts rodents.

I have found that a good way to inhibit bugs, and mosquitoes in the garden is; 5 drops of basil oil, 5 drops of rosemary, 3 drops of thieves cleaner (or other organic detergent to dissolve the oil), and one gallon of water. I much prefer this organic pest control over insecticides. The cost for the mixture is 73 cents per gallon.

It's Mosquito time again in Round Rock, argg. Last year we sprayed the yard, but this year want to do something less toxic. Here is a fun video for a homemade trap. I am going to give it a try. This guy is funny, no that's not me.

It was time to clean the carpets so I thought I would try some Thieves Cleaner. I like the smell and it works well in the kitchen but I was skeptical about effectiveness as a carpet shampoo. First tank of water I skimped on the Thieves and results were so-so. I am not a big measuring person so I just added enough in the second tank to turn the water a light brown (slightly lighter than the kitchen spray). Now I was getting good results.

This guy is great, and seeing the recipe for rice pudding brought back fond childhood memories, learning to cook in my moms kitchen. Mom told me "Cliff, if you like to eat, learn to cook". Thanks Mom you were so right-on.

This project was more than just mounting an old stained glass window if front of an existing window.
The shelf with the decorative facade was intended to give a cottage-window-feeling. It's hard to see but the bottom panel is bead-board which enhanced the overall warmth of the final look.
The entire assembly can be removed with several screws and nails to get back to the original window, still in place.
