We Thank God Daily (TGD) for our team and for the work we’ve been entrusted to do, and we carry that responsibility with humility and gratitude.

As we enter year two, our leadership vision is simple and demanding: build with purpose, lead with integrity, and deliver outcomes that endure. We’re committed to ensuring every neighborhood we touch reflects what we value - faith that steadies us, excellence that elevates our work, and service that keeps people at the center. As the Winter Olympics open tonight, the world’s athletes come together as something rather unique and rare - a Community.

For the next two weeks, Olympians will live side by side as neighbors - away from the cameras and the spotlight - sharing meals around the Olympic Village’s version of a kitchen table. They will share laundry facilities, FaceTime their families alongside new friends, and celebrate one another’s achievements across 116 medal events. In quiet, ordinary moments, alongside extraordinary competition, a temporary but powerful community takes shape.

Throughout the history of the modern Olympic movement, the Games have modeled something very special. They were built for belonging. When people live in close proximity, united by a common purpose, grounded in empathy, and attentive to one another’s needs, Community is not difficult to build - it’s inevitable.

That spirit does not stop at the arenas in Milano and Cortina.

Over the last three weeks, we have unwrapped the Gifts of Listening, Respect, and Awareness. Today, we arrive at the gift that runs through them all, The Gift of Love.

The Gift of Love isn’t about perfection or grand gestures, it’s about learning to celebrate one another. It’s embracing our differences and recognizing that it’s our unique talents, skills and perspectives that ultimately come together to make us strong. When families work together, when communities come together successfully, it is through a prism of love.

The Gift of Love is understanding over judgment, and connection over control. It begins when we recognize our own worth and extend it outward. It starts within our homes, our communities, and our towns, allowing us to genuinely celebrate others.

As we unwrap the final Gift this season, we’re reminded that the most meaningful gift families and communities give one another was never meant to be found under the tree. It’s found in the moments we choose presence and connection, make room for one another, and invest in the shared spaces where belonging is built.

Kwanzaa is a special time to reflect on the cultural values that strengthen families, neighborhoods, and communities.

Rooted in the Nguzo Saba - the Seven Principles - Kwanzaa centers on unity, purpose, collective responsibility, and the belief that strong communities are built when we care for one another and invest in the places we call Home. It reminds us that belonging is not accidental - it is created through intention, shared values, and a commitment to one another’s well-being.

While all Kwanzaa celebrations are grounded in gathering, food, family, and the lighting of the Kinara, the ways communities observe the holiday are beautifully diverse. Drumming, dancing, storytelling, shared meals, and the passing down of traditions invite every generation to participate - especially children, who help light candles, prepare symbols, and learn the meaning of heritage and community. These moments reinforce the idea that community is not just where we live, but how we live - together.
