My oldest, who is 9, approached me this morning and said, “tell me the truth”…

And as parent, those words elicit several emotions…

Admittedly, I may or may not have frozen for a second while I thought about everything - eventually deciding that if she was truly ready for the truth, I would break it all down for her…

She then said, “The elf’s aren’t real, are they?” “I know Santa is, but these elves…?” “Not everyone has one. Some have more than one. I just don’t think they have magic.”

To which I replied, with a sigh, “You’re right, The elves aren’t magic baby. But your dad and I work really hard to make them seem magic because we wanted you and your sister to experience the MAGIC of the Christmas Season.“

But you also know the real reason we celebrate Christmas, it isn’t elves or Santa, it’s JESUS. It’s HIS BIRTHDAY that we celebrate. ✝️

Once the tree is up, my favorite thing to do is get up early to drink my coffee in its light.

In that moment, I’m reminded of what I should be thankful for.

My family.
My beautiful girls.
My friends.

My work.
My home.
My vehicle.
My freedoms.

I become abundantly aware of how blessed I am. This is a feeling I work to create throughout the year.

Gratitude. Giving. Helping.

These are core values I bring to every interaction or business deal because they’re important to me.

If I can help, I will. If I can solve a problem, I will. I support every step of the way no matter what. I’m here with you throughout the process because it’s important to me that I am.

A week ago on a walk I literally stopped in my tracks to admire the fire-red fall leaves surrounding me.

Yesterday I realized most of the leaves had fallen and the trees were focusing on strengthening their roots and preparing to withstand the upcoming winter season.

This reminded me that the winter arc is also known as - separation season.

A time to either slow down - or - lock-in.

Lock-in on something you want to achieve.
