Four Good Reasons To Work With A REALTOR When Buying A Home
by Guest Author on November 25, 2013
Although it might be tempting to tackle the task of purchasing a home on your own, it’s usually a better idea to work with a real estate agent. Here are four good reasons why you should be talking to and working with a licensed real estate agent (REALTOR®) before ever signing any paperwork for a home.
Negotiation isn’t Easy
Negotiating is a necessary part of many large purchases, and home buying certainly isn’t excluded. However, negotiation can be tricky. You don’t want to offend the seller, and having a real estate agent to work as a messenger can help prevent such things. Real estate agents are also experienced at negotiating prices and know how to do it in a way that will yield positive results for both parties.
Contracts Can Be Tricky
Contracts are designed to protect both the buyer and the seller, but if you don’t know what you are signing, you could find yourself in a bad position during the buying process. Trying to navigate legal jargon can be tough, and it can be impossible to think about everything that should go in a contract when you are feeling so excited about buying a house. Working with a good real estate agent, however, can help ensure that you are properly protected in your contract and can provide you with an ally who will explain all of the terms to you.
Convenience and Accessibility
Finding potential homes and working with sellers can seem like a full-time job, and chances are good that you don’t have hours to spend each day on this process. It can require a lot of phone calls to schedule showings and sellers can get discouraged and not take you seriously if you seem too busy or don’t respond to messages right away. It’s part of a real estate agents job to manage and tackle all these tasks. For example, if you are working with Century 21 Sweyer & Associates, they will manage all the scheduling of appointments, callbacks and messages for you. This can make it easier for you to focus on planning for your purchase and choosing your home instead of dealing with all of the other things that go along with buying a house.
Professional Agents are Truthful
Let’s face it, if someone really wants to sell a house, there is always a chance that they might not tell you everything that you need to know about it. Professional real estate agents are much more likely to tell you the truth, and look at the house from a third-party perspective as that is simply part of their job and responsibility.
