Sometimes the best custom home features aren't for the homeowners... they're for the four-legged family members.

This dog door wasn't part of the original plans. Once the homeowners decided they wanted one, we looked at several locations to find the best fit for the home, the layout, and how their dogs would actually use it.

The timing mattered too. We got it installed just before insulation, built the stonework around it, and made it look like it had been part of the design from day one.

That's one of the advantages of building custom. It's not just about following a set of plansβ€”it's about finding solutions when new ideas come along.

Happy homeowners. Happy pups. We'd call that a win.

Looks like the first homeowners have arrived... 🐸

We haven't even finished the project, and the frogs have already claimed the pond.

A little rain, aerators running, and just like that, nature gets to work. It's pretty amazing how quickly a brand-new pond starts becoming its own little ecosystem.

Safe to say this one has passed its first inspection. πŸ˜‰

This room has a way of drawing you in.

Maybe it's the warmth of the wood beams overhead. Maybe it's the limestone fireplace. Or maybe it's the way the indoor and outdoor spaces feel connected through the walls of glass.

Whatever it is, it feels comfortable from the moment you walk in.

One of the things we hear most from homeowners is, "Can you make the new part match the original house?"

That's exactly what we're doing on this project.

Our clients wanted the new casita to carry the same stone column detail as their existing home. It sounds simple, but there's a lot happening behind the scenes to make it look seamless.

In this video, Jim walks through how custom steel supports, engineering, and hand-crafted stonework all come together to create what looks like a single solid stone plinth.

When it's finished, you'll never know what's hidden insideβ€”and that's exactly the point.

It's never just one piece. Great rooms are built in layers.

Before a room is furnished, someone has to create the canvas.

The proportions. The ceiling details. The fireplace. The wall finishes. The lighting plan. The way everything relates to one another.

That's the work of great interior design.

This is one of those rooms that changes depending on where you're standing.

From one angle, it's all about the limestone fireplace. Turn a little, and the walls of glass open the room to the outdoor living space. Then you look up and those wood beams and statement chandelier completely change the view.

Every time you look at this room, something different catches your eye.
